Website Teething Pains My appologies for any problems experienced over the past few days- it seems that there was an issue with the connection between the server and the database host, which the technical support team at IX Webhosting says was identified and repaired. All seems to be in order, but I must appologise in advance of yet more server upgrading that will be happening over then next few days or so. There may be some more website slow-downs and even a few times where it stops responding. I will be monitoring progress daily, and once this has passed, I intend to do my own website maintenance, hoping to improve performance and functionality. Tha

HAVE THE MARTIANS DECLARED WAR?! UPDATE: 9/3/08 After a lot of tinkering and learning about making my own Particle Effects, I have started moving forward with the development of this ride event set. For now, here's a quick glimpse of one of the new Martian War Machines in action: PREVIOUSLY:...terrible events are unfolding as we speak! We're uncertain as to the extent of the events because news just stops coming out of where ever the meteors land... ...One brave old sole was able to snap these two photographs before he shoved his camera into the hands of young woman who ran from the scene- ten miles she ran before she finally reached the offices of our affiliates and collapsed in hysterics... We'l keep you posted as we learn more! JMAinAZ has put together a little preview video using the test piece I created last week- and I'm sure you'll enjoy this quick little short: | Posted by Vodhin on Fri 08-22-08 - 19:09:00
Majestic Gardens Video This is most likely the cleanest video I have ever done besides Polar Plateau. I am extremely proud of it and honestly I would have never been able to pull this off without Vodhin. This was something I have always wanted to do and without Vodhin making the Girders and Glass set a truly viable set, this would have never happened.Hats off to you Brother. Vodhin's Mount Snow of 1958- Mixing Bowl Chairlift Released Update 8/3/08 - Download now available! I have decided to release this set as a "demo" for the time being- I am hoping that I will someday be able to make it an actual ride, but for now it's just animated scenery. PREVIOUSL
Y: Hi all, Last week I started working on a little bit of history that happened not far from my home. Those of you whom have followed the development of my SkyWay set may recall that it started with making a virtual version of the old Mount Snow Air-car (AKA SkyCar) that ran between the Main Base area and Mt. Snow`s Snow Lake Lodge in the late 1950`s through the 1980`s. I remember going there as a kid and seeing this rattling contraption through the trees that edged the main parking lot: The Mixing Bowl chairlift. You can actually see the upper terminal and some of that track in the lower right of the above photograph. At that time (mid 1970`s) it was the last of a set of Ramsey `Specials` - a track based, chain driven chairlift that was the cat`s pajamas for this futuristic ski resort. You can read more about Mount Snow`s history and look at all the great historical photos at this website: Teachski.comI`ve taken a little liberty with some design aspects of the lift set, mainly the chairs have vertical slat backs (there was one photo of such a chair somewhere) and I also decided to use the version with the canopy over the chair- the canopy was added to the real chairlift after the first season or so because riders would end up with globs of grease dripping on them from the track above (my version uses modern, sealed bearings in the castors, so no grease is needed, actually ). More to come | Posted by Vodhin on Sun 08-03-08 - 20:14:49
Vodhin's Light Kit 2008 -Beta Release! Update 8/3/08 - Beta Download now availableI have put this set up in the downloads with all the pieces I have so far, more are in development and I will update the download when I have them ready. Previously:Hello all, in case you didn't catch the news in the last post, I have been developing a new Light Kit for RCT3. I have not been too creative as of late (as far as custom scenery goes, that is) and I wanted to go back to making something less complcated. Well, here are a few screen shots of some of the new lighting that will be in my up-coming Light Kit 2008 More lamp designs will be available, including a few old favorites updated with the now working alpha transparency (these will be new file names, so they won't caus problems with existing parks). Stay tuned for more | Posted by Vodhin on Sun 08-03-08 - 16:58:36
Website Clean-Up Underway Hi everyone! my appologies for not being around that much lately- new job, summertime fun, and all that... I have decided to start cleaning up this website, removing older threads from some areas. I will also be looking at the coding behind the multitude of pages and see how it might be improved. Thise come after several friends hinted at the sheer number of posts in our forums as a possible cause for the site's slow response, that tied with my meager knowledge of website construction (I have a feeling that there are a number of little things I can do to improve the site's throughput- like keeping the search engines from testing all the downloads). In time, probably at the end of the summer, I will be performing aUser Prune- members who have not been active for over 18 months (Half the life of this site) will have their user profiles moved to a backup file and then made inactive here. Not for any reason other than to clean things up. One new thing is that I have made our Modding Developments Forum Visible to the general public- Now everyone can look over the miriad of threads that have helped the development of the RCT3 importer and custom scenery. Please note that the Modding Developments Forum, while visible to all- ONLY APPROVED USERS CAN POST THERE. If you have successfully imported a model into RCT3 and you have not recieved access rights to that forum, please send me a PM with a link to the thread that shows your first imported scenery piece. I will then set your access rights accordingly. If you are brand new to making Custom Scenery, you can still read through the Custom Scenery Corner and post new questions there... In other news, I have been tossing around a few ideas for my next custom scenery set, and while I wait for the right inspiration to make me tinker with the Mount Snow Chairlift (make it a real ride if possible), I have decided to do something more simple- and usefull:Keep an eye out in the very near future for my new Lighting Kit, with new Art Deco Streetlamps, Crystal Chandeliers, and working, moving Searchlights -Vodhin | Posted by Vodhin on Tue 07-22-08 - 19:36:27
VODHIN.ORG Is Our New Home! From Now On, vodhin.org is the correct address you should point your web browser to (not the temporary numerical IP address). PLEASE BOOKMARK our new address and delete any previous bookmarks to our site here. If you are a webmaster and have linked to our old IP address or vodhin.net, please update the links as soon as possible, since the old links will cease to work soon enough. Please check your links that you have made in our forums or at other forums and edit as needed- again, links to pictures and downloads- even other threads or postings will not work. To further understand, the temporary IP address that was supposed to become vodhin.net pointed to a set of files in a specific folder on our new host, but when I was unable to secure the vodhin.net domain name, I decided to create vodhin.org. the files for vodhin.org are in another folder, so currently I have a duplicate set sitting on my server. I will be deleting the "wrong" files and folders over the next week, and if you are still using the old temporary IP, you will eventually end up nowhere... between now and then I will ahve a redirect page for the temporary IP. Please bookmark vodhin.org today... | Posted by Vodhin on Tue 06-17-08 - 21:42:58
CTR_Creator 0.45 released CTR_Creator has been released in it's newest version to the English speaking crowd. With this tool you can created your own custom tracked rides (coasters etc.) within certain limits. Currently you can only use cars and tracks already in the game, so fully custom coasters are not possible. Still you can do a lot of things. so happy experimentating!
The program has been created by Markus Lomberg, translation by errt. Find the download of the program and the corresponding tutorial in the misc downloads section. Do not forget the tutorial, you won't achieve anything without it. misc section | Posted by Belgabor on Sun 06-08-08 - 11:19:23
