Here is a brand new version, much lighter and more faithful to the original, though not quite finished.

When I first started this piece, back in 1995, I only had the melody in my head (Stuck, if you will) and was lacking knowledge of the name of the piece. I called it "Overture To Disaster", which I think is more appropriate, though incorrect.

In the movie, this melody Haunts Jack Lemon's "Professor Fate" character whenever he is on screen. Mr. Mancini was perhaps the best at setting music to a scene, and perfectly presents us with variations of this melody throughout the movie.

This version, in tempo and measure, is based on a scene where Fate's assistant, Max (Peter Falk), is piloting an impossibly real Bi-Plane - one that even the Wright Brothers would have laughed at - intending to snag the doomed Professor Fate and fly off with him dangling beneath the outrageous contraption.

Again, Mr. Mancini captures the ideal accompaniment to the scene, the music perfectly conveying the hopeless optimism the characters have for their stunt.

In time, I will be adding more to this piece, hopefully (heh) adding other versions of this melody. Check back later for updates to this song.
